The Texas Real Estate Commission requires that brokers take the 6 hour Broker Responsibility course if they are a sponsoring broker, designated broker of a business entity or a delegated supervisor (for 6 months or more) supervising at least one salesperson. A sales agent who has been made a supervisor by their broker for 6 months or more must also complete the 6 hour Broker Responsibility course. The Broker responsibility course is not in addition to the 18 hours of CE required for renewal; it is in conjunction with the 18 hours.

NOTE: As of January 1, 2026 all those holding a broker license regardless of whether they supervise other salesperson's will need to take the Broker Responsibility course.

For example, a Supervising Broker or Supervising Sales Agent are required to take:

Receiving Credit for Completed Courses

TREC is currently updating its REALMS reporting system. Because of this update, education providers have been unable to submit course completions. During this period, there is no active reporting portal available for any provider.

Recognizing the impact of this system outage, TREC has temporarily suspended the reporting requirement. This means you are fully allowed to renew your license even if your course completions have not yet been reported.

What You Need to Do
Once you finish your final course:
1. Visit the TREC website
2. Follow the prompts to renew your license
3. Pay your renewal fee
That’s it. You will have completed everything required for this renewal period.

What We Will Do
As soon as TREC reopens the REALMS reporting system, we will submit all completions immediately. No action is required from you.

If you have questions, feel free to reach out—but please know that this delay is statewide and affects all education providers equally.

Regulation of Online CE Courses

The Commission requires that online providers ensure that students spend the full clock hours of time in the course for which credit is awarded. For this reason we have incorporated a timing mechanism to ensure that a minimum seat time is spent in each course (equal to 50 minutes per credit hour). For example, a 3-hour course will be open and active for no less than 150 minutes. Passing a final exam is not required in Texas therefore, our courses do not have them. They do have short quizzes at the end of each chapter however, the passing score has been set to 0%.
